Mary C. Murphy, 79 

Mary C. Murphy (nee Sullivan), age 79, passed away at her home in Ocean City, NJ on July 27, 2023. 

Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, she lived in Ardmore, Broomall and Havertown. She was a long-time visitor to Ocean City, NJ as a young woman and was a full-time resident of Ocean City for almost 40 years. She spent winters in sunny Marathon, FL and recent summers in Northport, NY with her companion of 10 years Bob Drost. 

Mary worked as a secretary and administrative assistant at Villanova University’s Department of Chemical Engineering, various law firms including many years at Ridgway Legal in Linwood, NJ.  She also worked at Red Baron Air Tours in Woodbine, NJ over many summers. She enjoyed travelling, her family and friends, the beach and dancing. She leaves behind her many friends at 36th Street in Ocean City and throughout the Florida Keys.  

Surviving are Son: Ted Hodgins (Spouse Christine) of Schwenksville, PA, their Children Jim (Spouse Michelle), Caroline (Spouse Steve Todd), Sean, Son: Michael Hodgins (Spouse Crissi) Egg Harbor Twp, NJ Children Michael, Caleigh.  Also surviving are a sister: Maggie Sullivan, Manhattan Beach, CA and Great-grandchildren Maisie Todd and Brenna Todd.   

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Thomas J. Sullivan and Grace Sullivan (nee Hatch) and her brother: Jeremiah Sullivan of Ardmore, PA. She is also preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Murphy of Ocean City, NJ.    

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11 o’clock from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church of St. Damien Parish, 40th Street at Asbury Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 10 o’clock until time of Mass.

Burial will be Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11 o’clock in St. Denis Cemetery, Haverford Township, PA.
