Mary Frances Canty, 78 

Mary Frances Canty, 78, of Ocean City, NJ passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, NJ. 

Born in Marion, SC to the late Andrew, Sr. and Estelle (nee Scott) McCall she was a graduate of Johnakin High School and DeShazor Beauty College in Durham, NC.

Mary Frances was a faithful member of St. James AME Church in Ocean City where she had served as Steward, Missionary Board, Treasurer and active with the Choir. She was active with the Ecumenical Food Cupboard and the Women’s Elks Lodge # 469 and St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Bible Study all in Ocean City. She loved to host family gatherings and known for her potato salad. Mary also enjoyed charity work and needle point.

Surviving are her husband: George Canty, Jr., sons: Barry and Jeffrey Canty. Siblings include:Claudette Abrams (James), Jeanette Moody (Don), Andrew, Odessa, Winston, Joyce Wilson (Franklin).

Her Funeral Service will be offered Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11 o’clock from St. Paul AME Church in Pleasantville, NJ where friends may call from 9 o’clock until 10:45am. Burial will follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville, NJ.
