Eleanor S. Rosica, 90

Eleanor S. Rosica, 90, of Ocean City, New Jersey, devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at her home at The Shores at Wesley Manor on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Born December 9, 1929 in Holmes County, Florida, Eleanor grew up in Bonifay, Florida, and Tacoma, Washington, where she graduated from high school before moving to Atlantic City. She spent her happy married life in South Philadelphia, and Cherry Hill and Ocean City, New Jersey. She worked alongside her husband helping him in his Apothecary shop prior to his death and before becoming an independent businesswoman in her own right as the owner of Shore Medical and Surgical Supplies in Somers Point. A life-long woman of God and devout Catholic – having converted on her own accord to the faith tradition of her husband years into their marriage – Eleanor was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Church in Ocean City and later St. Maximillian Kolbe in Marmora. In addition to her church activities, she was active playing bridge and golf, gardening and participating in the Soroptimists. A former beauty queen, Eleanor was known for her Southern charm as well as her extraordinary gifts as a gourmet cook who loved entertaining and feeding family and friends. Eleanor is survived by many who love her, including her children Susan Gross and her husband, Barry; Albert E. (“Bert”) Rosica III and his wife, Helen; Jane Nugent and her husband Jeff; and, Paul S. Rosica and his wife, Elizabeth; along with grandchildren Lauren (and husband, Cameron), Amy (and husband, Todd), Courtney, Kellie (and husband, Matthew), Kara (and husband, Sean), Albert E. (“IV”) Rosica IV, Allison, Luke, Jake, Clay, Christopher, Benjamin and Andrew; and, great-granddaughters Eleanor Rey and Audrey Mae. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert E. (“Al”) Rosica Jr., her sister, Audrey, her brothers Willard, Lionel and Pete and her parents Erasmus and Annie (Howell) Shouppe.
