Ocean City firefighters extinguish blaze Thursday morning

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City firefighters extinguished a blaze at 411 Haven Ave. Thursday morning.

The call came in at 9:46 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, reporting a fire at 411 Haven Avenue.

The fire originated in an exterior doorway, according to Ocean City public information officer Doug Bergen. Three engines and a ladder truck responded.

Firefighters were able to control the fire with most damage limited to the exterior of the building.

Bergen said the unit was unoccupied by residents at the time, but firefighters assisted in bringing a dog out of the house.

There were no injuries.

There is some smoke damage to units at 411 and 413 Haven Ave.

The units are part of Pecks Beach Village and the Housing Authority is working to help relocate residents temporarily, Bergen said.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
