Joan R. Mangold

Joan Ruth Mangold (nee Newkirk/Reynolds)—90 was born on December 7, 1931 in Atlantic City, NJ, and resided in Ocean City.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022.

She was born to Madeline and Robert Newkirk and raised by her loving Aunt and Uncle Marie and Raymond Reynolds whom she was predeceased by.  She was also predeceased by her loving husband, of 62 years, William Mangold, her five brothers and sisters Raymond Newkirk, Robert Newkirk, Charles Newkirk, Amy Jane Florence, and Florence Matteo.  

She graduated from Philadelphia High School for girls in 1949.  Upon graduation she opened and operated Starlet Dance Studio in Philadelphia for over 40 years.  Her greatest joy was her family.

Joan is survived by her two sons, Raymond Mangold (Elizabeth), Robert Mangold (Serina), Mary Beth Snow (Russell), Babe Halliday (Kevin), Amy Young (Dave) her sister Viva Pastor.  She also leaves behind her 19 grandchildren whom she adored and cherished with all her heart.  Raymond, Viva, Tyler, Macie, Shanelle, Robert, Frank, Shavon, Jasmine, Clint, Savannah, Colin, Mary Beth, Blake, Maddison, Grant, Melody, Mac, and Marietta.  Her ten great grandchildren gave her even more joy as she was such a big part of their lives also and they are Harlow, Hudson, Isla, Teddy, Gal, Strijder, Knox, Ruby, Arthur and Lou. Joan loved to travel, cook monthly dinners for her grandchildren, sew costumes for dance recitals, and attend any and all events that supported her family.  She will forever live on in our hearts and be greatly missed.  The impact she has had for all that were privileged to know her is immeasurable. A service of memory and love is planned for November. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to The St Judes Research Hospital for Children.
