Centrally located single an island paradise block from beach, boardwalk

OCEAN CITY — The newly rebuilt home at 1510 Wesley Ave. is ideally located for a large family and friends on the go.

Real estate agent Dorothy Phillips called it “planned and perfectly executed as an enduring design on four levels for an active Ocean City lifestyle.” She said the remodel was done by Whale Beach Builders.

Just a block from the beach and boardwalk in the city’s Central neighborhood, the handsome four-story single is right in the heart of the action.

Sporting white cedar-impression siding with black trim, the home is on the bay side of the street, just across from the iconic Port-O-Call hotel. It offers seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, a wide-open great room and a ground-floor cabana space with a kitchen and full bathroom just off the backyard, where plumbing and electricity have been installed for a swimming pool.

Out front, there is new concrete sidewalk. Paver stones lead to the composite stairs up to the second floor as well as down the left where there is entry to the ground-floor front porch.

Four square columns with brick bases hold up the second-floor porch, where four more columns with railings create a sense of enclosure.

The path down the left leads to the fenced backyard, where there is a two-car detached garage with living quarters above. The space is unfinished but has electricity, plumbing and a sewer line installed.

Back out front, the main entrance opens onto a foyer/sitting area with wood-impression tile flooring. A sofa and a couple of chairs are arranged around a table-top television for lounging, while a wood staircase rises to the right, where two clerestory windows provide natural light.

The ground level has two bedrooms and a full bathroom, as well as a kitchenette, laundry and pub area with a fully enclosed shower.

All of the interior doors are white solid wood with black hardware, creating a consistent look throughout the home.

To the left, the first bedroom has wall-to-wall carpeting, a queen-size bed, dresser and nightstand. Windows in the front and on the side provide natural light. The second bedroom has twin beds.

The bathroom has a tile floor, quartz-topped 21st Century vanity and a fiberglass tub/shower with tiled walls and a curtain.

Back the hall is the kitchenette with abundant 21st Century cabinets topped with quartz. Appliances include a GE Café series two-door refrigerator with freezer drawer, a dishwasher left of the stainless-steel sink. Next to the refrigerator is a quartz counter atop a full-size Electrolux washer and dryer.

A sliding glass door opens onto the covered back porch, where the four square columns from the front are repeated. Past the door is a full bathroom accessible directly from outside. It has a quartz-topped vanity and a fully tiled shower with a frameless glass door.

Back in the foyer, the stairs ascend to the second floor, where the great room feel spacious due to its open layout, 9-foot ceiling and multiple windows.

This floor has medium-plank hardwood flooring. The living room is to the front, to take advantage of the ocean view. A large sectional sofa and two leather chairs are arranged around a gas fireplace with a wood mantel and wall-mounted television above. Two windows in the front and two flanking the fireplace have colonial-style headers, complementing the crown molding and tall baseboard trim. Overhead, a trimmed wood beam adds to the interesting aesthetic.

The dining room takes up the back left of the space, where multipe windows make it light and bright. A long wood table that seats eight rests beneath modern chandelier.

A long quartz peninsula separates the dining area from the kitchen, providing more seating on five barstools. On the other side of the peninsula are a wine refrigerator and slide-out trash receptacle. Two pendant lights hang above.

White 21st Century cabinets with a white subway tile backsplash stretch the width of the outside wall. GE Café series appliances include a built-in convection oven and microwave, as well as a two-door refrigerator with freezer drawer, a five-burner range in the countertop with a hood and a dishwasher to the left of the rectangular stainless-steel sink.

A sliding glass door off the kitchen provides access to the back porch, which has a retractable awning offering the option of sun or shade.

A powder room in the corner has handsome 54-inch-high board-and-batten wainscoting and a quartz-topped vanity.

Another flight of stairs rises to the third floor, where there is a large master suite and two other bedrooms.

Featuring a walk-in closet and full bathroom, the master suite is in the front of the house and is bathed in light by windows across the front and on the sides, providing a view of the ocean just across the street.

Each of the other two bedrooms on this floor has a private bathroom.

Finally, atop the last set a stairs is a teen child’s favorite — a bedrooms, bathroom and private sitting area with a rooftop deck providing a view around the island.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring a 2.5-mile-long oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches. There also is an award-winning downtown business district centered on Asbury Avenue and a watersports district on Bay Avenue between Second and Fourth streets.

A great location doesn’t only mean beachfront or bayfront on this 8-mile-long island — there are 10 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics. The Central neighborhood is bustling with business both downtown and on the boardwalk. Stretching from North Street to 19th Street, the area also includes many homes.

The property is listed for $2,999,999 with Dorothy Phillips of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors.
