Upper Township Black History

In chalk on the blackboard, Upper Township Primary School teacher Tim Smith recreated the moment that Amanda Gorman delivered her inauguration poem Jan. 20, 2021, during the ceremony for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. It was part of the Black History Month lesson on Gorman, who became the sixth and youngest poet, at age 22, to deliver a reading at a presidential inauguration. Below, a student essay.
