OCEAN CITY – Representatives of Ocean Wind will hold a virtual public hearing starting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 7, to accept public comment on the proposed diversion of about 0.838 acres of Ocean City-owned parkland as part of its plan to run transmission cables across the island.
Ocean Wind 1 is planning up to 99 wind turbines in a parcel in the Atlantic Ocean 15 miles off the coast of Cape May and Atlantic counties, with transmission lines for the power to run through Ocean City to Upper Township, where they would tie into the power grid at the former B.L. England generating plant in Beesleys Point.
According to Ocean Wind, the affected properties owned by the city are:
– Block 611.11, Lots 137 and 145 – Beach lots at the end of 35th Street
– Block 3500, Lot 1 (Including riparian grant) – Beach lot south of Block 611.11, Lot 137
– Block 3350.01, Lot 17 – North of Roosevelt Boulevard bridge.
Ocean Wind, a joint venture between Ørsted and PSEG, will have representatives on-hand during the live-streamed meeting to explain the diversion and receive public comments.
