DWI charged after boat ends up on jetty

No injuries reported after Monday night accident

OCEAN CITY – a Lindenwold man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a boat he was operating ended up on a jetty near Morningside Road Monday evening.

Nicholas Theisen, 24, of Lindenwold, has been charged with boating while intoxicated. 

According to Ocean City Public Information Officer Doug Bergen, Ocean City fire and police units responded to a call at 9:26 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, reporting a boat on the jetty near Morningside Road.

The boat operator and all passengers were able to make it to the beach without assistance, he said, and responders were in the shallow water ready to help. There were no injuries. A private towing service was on hand to help retrieve get the boat off of the jetty.

The boat was still on the beach as of early Tuesday morning, and police were working with a towing service to have it removed.

The New Jersey State Police Marine Division is investigating in conjunction with Ocean City Police Department.
