Chester ‘Bud’ Asher III, 93

 Chester “Bud” Asher III passed away peacefully after a short illness on June 16, 2021, in Naples, Florida. He was 93.

Born in Germantown, Pa. on May 25, 1928, to Ruth (nee Selsor) and Colonel Chester A. Asher Jr, Bud attended Germantown Academy and served in the United States Army. After WW2 he joined the family candy business and spent his career in the confection industry, working for Wilbur Chocolates and as owner of Miesse Candies in Lancaster, Pa. Bud was an early pioneer of the Retail Confectioners Association of Philadelphia.

Bud and his wife Dodie (nee McCutcheon) were married for 70 years before her passing in 2019. They raised their family in Fort Washington PA and summered in Ocean City, building and then later renovating a home on East Station Road. They were active members of the Ocean City Yacht Club where Bud enjoyed GP14 and off-shore sailing. From Nights in Venice to marshaling the Baby Parade, Bud was very much a part of the town he loved. 

Bud was an avid golfer and member of Greate Bay Country Club before relocating to Naples. He and Dodie enjoyed many happy years at their home at the Worthington Country Club community where Bud pursued his dream of breaking 80 on the golf course. He was a great a gregarious many who will be missed by all who knew him. 

Bud is survived by his children, Chet Asher (Lori), Josie Musch (Richard) and Mark Asher (Susan) as well as five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. A private memorial will be held.
