ShopRite limiting number of customers inside

RIO GRANDE — In an effort to adhere to proper social distancing practices and for the safety of shoppers and employees, the ShopRite of Rio Grande is limiting the number of customers allowed in the store at one time.

The maximum number of customers will be about 30 percent of the store’s regular maximum occupancy, officials said.

In a news release, ShopRite stated: “Please be patient and kind to one another as you may be asked to queue in a single line outside the store. We appreciate your understanding in helping us keep everyone in the community safe.”

Rio Grande ShopRite has closed all but one entrances to the store. A security guard is assigned to the entrance and exit to track the number of customers entering and leaving. When the store opens, the guard will allow a limited number of customers into the building.

“Once the store is at capacity, we will ask customers to begin to queue in the designated line,” the release stated.

An employee at a fourth ShopRite in northern New Jersey tested positive for coronavirus, ShopRite announced late Saturday.
