Ocean City and Mainland boys and girls lacrosse teams move on in playoffs; Mustang baseball in semifinals

The Ocean City and Mainland Regional boys and girls lacrosse teams advanced in the South Jersey sectionals, as did the Mainland baseball team.

In Group II, the No. 1 seeded Red Raider boys lacrosse team beat No. 16 Ewing 19-0 in the opening round and No. 8 Barnegat 15-0 in the quarterfinals. They will host No. 5 Allentown at 5 p.m. Thursday at Carey Stadium in the semifinals. In Group III, the No. 3 seeded Mustangs boys lacrosse team beat West Windsor-Plainsboro 23-1 in the opening round and No. 6 Clearview 20-7 in the quarterfinals. They will play at No. 2 Moorestown Thursday.

For the girls in Group III, No. 2 seed Ocean City beat No. 15 Hammonton 19-0 in the opening round and No. 7 Toms River East 15-1 in the quarterfinals. The girls host No. 3 Shawnee at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carey Stadium.

The Mustang girls, the No. 5 seed, beat Northern Burlington 18-3 and then upset No. 4 Cherry Hill West 10-9. They travel to No. 1 Moorestown Thursday.

In the South Jersey Group III baseball sectional, No. 7 seed Mainland beat No. 10 Lacey 7-0 then upset No. 2 Cherry Hill West 8-1. The Mustangs travel to No. 3 Toms River East for a 4 p.m. game Wednesday, June 3.
