Ocean City girls track tops A.C., Pleasantville, follows up with a win over Cedar Creek

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City High School girls track and field team rolled to easy victories over depleted Atlantic City and Pleasantville teams Tuesday at Carey Stadium and followed that up Friday with another victory, this time over Cedar Creek.

Against Cedar Creek, the Red Raiders won 98.5 to 41.5 with Erin Hanlon as a double winner in individual events.

Hanlon won the opening 400-meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 1 minute 7.5 seconds with teammates Sarah Burgos second and McKenna Chisholm third.

Hanlon also won the 800 meters in 2:24.5, followed by Alexa Palmieri in second and Olivia Palmieri in third.

Alexa Palmieri was first in the 1600 meters in a time of 5:35. Cedar Creek’s Megan Winterbottom was second and Ocean City’s Mary Lisicki third.

Morgan Krier led a 1-2-3 Red Raider sweep in the 100 high hurdles in 17.2 seconds followed by Burgos and Peyton Matura.

Cedar Creek’s Molly Schoenstein won the 400 meters in 1:02.5 and her teammate Ashley Nicolicchia was third. Ocean City’s Maggie Halbruner was second.

Schoenstein also won the 100 meters.

Ocean City’s Aila Troxel won the 200 meters in 27.2 seconds.

Teammate Lisicki won the 3200 meters in 13:25 with fellow Red Raider Emma Weber third.

Cedar Creek’s 4×400 team took that event in 4:29.2. Ocean City was second in 4:38.4.

In the field events, Joni Dice won the discus with a throw of 91’9” followed by Ocean City teammate Julia Knopp and Cedar Creek’s Alexis Belber.

Marissa Sampon led a Red Raider sweep in the javelin, throwing for 83’6” followed by Knop and Corinne Williams.

Mia Vazquez won the shot-put for the Red Raiders with a throw of 29’4” with teammate Madison Majors second and Belber third.

Elaina Slyer was first in the high jump, clearing 4’8” for Ocean City followed by teammates Stephanie Carey (also 4’8”) and Tricia Nicoletti.

Carey won the triple jump, going 33’4’25”. Nicolicchia was second for Cedar Creek and Sarah Gleason third for Ocean City.

Nicolicchia won the long jump at 15’8.25”, followed by Gleason.

Ocean City’s Birdie Stewart cleared 10’ to win the pole vault. Teammate Kamryn Chisholm was second and Schoenstein was third.
