George R. King, 87

George R. King, 87, passed away Sunday December 14, 2025 following a brief illness.

George was born on July 26, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pa.  He attended Lincoln High School and after a year at Temple University began working for Kabat Men’s Shop in Ocean City, NJ.  He stayed with Kabat for nearly 50 years, until the store’s closing.  

When the weather was good, he could be seen riding his bike on the boardwalk daily to work. 

George married Lois, his wife of 63 years, in 1962, raising their 3 children in Ocean City, NJ, the place he loved.  George and Lois were members at First Presbyterian Church and later attended Greentree Church; and since moving to Granger, Ind., attended Granger Church and watched Kevin’s services from Florida online.  He enjoyed his family, Dot’s Pastries, Johnson’s Popcorn, Curly Fries, Ward’s Pastry, Disney World and the hot tub.

George is survived by his wife, Lois, son Kevin (Cheryl), daughter Linda (Don) and son Brian; 8 grandchildren – Christpher Brown (Alycin), Scott Brown (Julianne), Gabrielle Marino (Greg), Mackenzie King, Anna King, Colin King, Abigail King, Cameron King and 5 great-grandchildren – Maelie, Kynli, CeCe and Margot and one on the way.
