STONE HARBOR — The Cape May County Library Children’s Department has scheduled Cocoa & Coloring for 5 to 6 p.m.Dec. 29 at the Stone Harbor branch.
Stop by for festive fun and a colorful time. Children age 3 and olderare invited to drop in for an hour of hot cocoa and winter-themed coloring fun. A variety of coloring tools will be provided.

Lunch & Learn
focus on protein
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences Program has scheduled the virtual Lunch & Learn program Whole Foods for Health Goals: Protein Picks for 12:30 to 1 p.m. Jan. 6.
Presenter Anneliese Kuemmerle, Program Associate II, will teach participants how and why protein supports health, evidence-based recommendations for adult protein needs and about building balanced meals and snacks that include adequate protein using everyday foods.
The series provides viewers with health and wellness information during their lunch hour. Topics vary and allow participants a chance to grab a healthy half-hour tidbit of wellness to carry throughout the day.

Grandparents group
meeting set Jan. 22
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Rutgers Cooperative Extension Family and Community Health Sciences Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group has scheduled its next meeting for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road in Cape May Court House. The building is handicapped-accessible.
The program will feature guest presenter Teri O’Connor, experienced registered yoga teacher with advanced training in functional movement and empowered aging, mediation coach and reiki master. O’Connor will present Stretch Away Stress plus teach participants about somatic movement.
New families are always welcome. The program is designed for grandparents or relatives who have full-time responsibility for raising their grandchildren or kin.
Child care will be provided. A light supper will be served at 5 p.m. and the program at 5:30 p.m. There is no charge for this program, but advanced registration is required by Jan. 16.

Water conservation
workshop Jan. 23
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources has scheduled the workshop Rain Barrels and Water Conservation for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Lockwood 4-H Youth Center, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road.
Presenter Lauren Heraux, AmeriCorps New Jersey watershed ambassador, will discuss how to build a rain barrel including construction, installation and maintenance. Participants will build their own rain barrels to take home.

OCEAN CITY — Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences has scheduled the program Making Resolutions for Better Health for 6 p.m. Jan. 27. The event will take place both virtually and in-person at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave.
Presenter Chris Zellers, Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences educator/assistant professor, will share ways to set goals for overall health all year long for a better-quality life for years to come.

Support groups

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Library System hosts Al-Anon, Memory Café and Family Support Groups.
Al-Anon supports those whose lives have been affected by another person’s alcoholism. Memory Café is a place for those experiencing memory loss and their caregivers and family members. Family Support Group is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) that provides support for adults with a loved one living with a mental health condition.
Al-Anon is held at 11 a.m. each Thursday and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lower Cape branch in Villas.
Memory Café is held at the Cape May Court House branch one Monday per month.
Family Support Group meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the Cape May Court House branch.

Mental health
family meeting
The Mental Health Association in Atlantic County offers three online meetings each month, with both day and evening options, for individuals with a loved one who is affected by mental health and/or substance use disorders.
The meetings typically include an educational segment as well as support in the form of stress-reduction, self-care, resources, advocacy and mutual aid. Meetings are scheduled for 10 a.m. the second and fourth Thursday of each month and 7 p.m. the third Thursday.

Free screening
for depression
Online screening for depression and postpartum depression is available at mhaac.info/screening.
The confidential screening involves 10 questions related to topics such as sleep habits, appetite, concentration and level of energy. Resources and recommendations are offered at the end of the survey.
Anyone who wants to take the screening but needs assistance can call The Mental Health Association in Atlantic County at (609) 652-3800. Staff are available throughout the year by phone or by appointment. No cost, no insurance needed.
Angelic Health

Offer comfort and a listening ear to someone who has recently lost a loved one.
