Newcomer officially joining Upper Township school board

Bird will join Barbieri, Lentz; Ocean City results stand

UPPER TOWNSHIP — Logan Bird has officially won a spot on the Upper Township Board of Education, joining incumbents Michele Barbieri and Christine Lentz.

Those three were leading the results Nov. 4, before all outstanding and provisional ballots were counted. Although their totals changed, they finished in the same order.

The Cape May County Board of Elections published official vote tallies Monday, Nov. 24, showing Lentz receiving the most votes, 2,861, followed by Barbieri, the board president, with 2,804. Bird earned 2,786.

Brian Teeney, a former board member trying to get back on the board, received 2,765, 21 behind Bird.

Three seats were up for election.

Meghan Miller was fifth with 2,602 and Kristi Lancaster got 2,518.

Ocean City

In neighboring Ocean City, the three projected winners, incumbent board President Kevin Barnes and his running mates, newcomers Jennifer Dwyer and Jennifer Cawley-Black, were officially declared the winners.

They ousted two incumbents, Catherine Panico and Liz Nicoletti, and thwarted a comeback attempt by their running mate, Robin Shaffer.

Barnes received the most votes, 2,821, followed by Dwyer with 2,805 and Cawley-Black with 2,616.

Nicoletti earned 2,489, Panico had 2,438 and Shaffer 2,254.
