OCHS girls crew picks up another four victories at Lake Lenape

MAYS LANDING – The Ocean City High School girls rowing team won four of the five events it entered last weekend at Lake Lenape with visiting crews from Pennsylvania: Villa Maria Academy, Villa Joseph Marie High School and Gwynedd Mercy Academy.
Ocean City rounded off the day with a dominant performance in the Varsity Eight with a nearly 10 second win over Villa Marie.
The lightweight four continued its winning streak with a 10-second win over Egg Harbor Township. While the team boated a junior four that won its heat and also posted the fastest junior four time of the day. The girls novice eight also won its heat by 27 seconds, continuing a two-week winning streak. The girls second eight took second to Atlantic City.
“The team performed well this weekend and is continuing to improve. We’ve already shown growth from last weekend and are excited to keep testing our speed each week,” head coach Colin Stewart said.
The OCHS varsity eight includes Aubrey Schlembach, Margot Swift, Marin Pearce, Marina Zappone, Ava Ruh, Jada Smith, Marissa Trostle, Reese Hemberger and Kailyn Kelly.
Ava Ryan, Abby Smith, Anna Rice, Heather Trostle and Coryn Driscoll row the lightweight four.
Girls novice eight members are Maddie Aragno, Kendall Barnes, Isabella Panico, Brooke DeLanzo, Anna Rice, Katie Grimley, Stella Tomaselli, Kristin Campbell and Mary Libro.
