92 new cases Sunday, but only 15 Monday in Atlantic County

On Sunday, the number of new positive COVID-19 results in Atlantic County neared 100, but on Monday, that number was down to 15. The coronavirus continues to infect residents from infants to seniors.

On Monday, the 15 new cases included seven men from 19 to 71 years of age and eight women from 18 to 67. No town had more than three new cases.

The day before, Sunday, Oct. 18, there were 92 cases and the new positive COVID results included at least two children under 1 year of age. 

According to the Atlantic County Division of Public Health, the new cases Sunday included 50 males from 10 months old to 80 years old and 42 females from 11 months old to 87 years old.

Egg Harbor Township had the largest number of new cases at 27, with 14 in Atlantic City and 11 in Pleasantville. The other positive test results Sunday included eight in Galloway Township, seven in Absecon, five in Hamilton Township, four each in Linwood and Hammonton, three in Egg Harbor City, two each in Northfield and Margate, and one each in Somers Point, Brigantine, Buena Borough, Estell Manor and Ventnor. There were no new deaths.

Overall, there have been 258 deaths attributed to the coronavirus in Atlantic County and 5,282 infections as of Oct. 19. 

Daily results

Saturday, Oct. 17: There were 51 cases, with the most – 10 – in Egg Harbor Township. There were no new deaths reported.

Friday, Oct. 16: There was a death in Atlantic City – an 88-year-old woman with pre-existing conditions, and 64 new positive test results. Those infected ranged from teenagers to senior citizens.

Of the 64 new coronavirus cases, 39 were in females from 14 year old to 90 and 25 cases were in males from 16 years old to 82.

Galloway Township had 11 cases; Pleasantville and Atlantic City had eight cases each; and Northfield and Egg Harbor Township each had six cases. There were five case in Egg Harbor City, four each in Hamilton Township and Hammonton; three in Brigantine; two each in Linwood, Buena Vista Township and Margate; and one each in Ventnor, Estell Manor and Absecon.

Thursday, Oct. 15: There were two deaths in Atlantic City and 27 new cases of COVID-19 reported. The two who died, a 64-year-old man and 74-year-old woman, both had pre-existing conditions, according to the Division of Public Health.

Of the 27 new cases reported Oct. 15, there were 10 females ranging in age from 9 years old to 70 and 17 males from 10 years old to 79.

There were six new cases in Northfield, four in Linwood, three each in Atlantic City, Egg Harbor Township and Pleasantville; two each in Margate and Hammonton; and one each in Somers Point, Ventnor, Galloway Township and Absecon.

Wednesday, Oct. 14: 45 new cases in 21 females from 3 years old to 89 and in 24 males from 10 years old to 72.

Egg Harbor Township reported 11 new cases, Pleasantville had nine and Atlantic City had seven. Other cases included five in Absecon, three each in Linwood and Hamilton Township, two in Hammonton and one each in Northfield, Longport, Ventnor, Galloway Township and Buena Vista Township.

Death tolls

Hammonton continues to lead the county with 57 fatalities attributed to COVID-19, followed by 37 in Galloway Township, 31 in Northfield, 26 in Absecon, 25 in Egg Harbor Township, 23 in Atlantic City, 21 in Pleasantville and 13 in Linwood. Other deaths include eight in Hamilton Township, four in Buena Borough, three in Ventnor, two each each in Egg Harbor City, Margate and Mullica Township, and one each in Brigantine, Buena Vista Township, Somers Point and Weymouth. There have been no reported coronavirus fatalities in Corbin City, Estell Manor, Folsom, Longport and Port Republic.
